Phuket will become closer with THAI Smile direct flights from India

Weddings and holidays destination in the resort island of Phuket in Thailand could become closer with the launch

of direct flights to New Delhi and Mumbai by THAI Smile beginning next month.

The sister airline of THAI Airways, which operates with a new fleet of Airbus 320, will introduce twice-a-week,

direct flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Phuket, starting on March 31 and April 2 respectively.

Korakot Chatasingha, THAI Airways General Manager India, said at the launch party on 22 March, “Thailand is fast emerging as a hot destination for honeymoons, Leisure, Golf, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences/Conventions, Exhibitions) and Wedding Tourism. Now, with the new direct flights, destinations like the island of Phuket seem closer.”

Thai Ambassador Pisan Manawapat added that he was always delighted to associating himself with Thailand’s top quality brand names and their success stories. THAI Airways certainly stands out in its achievement so far since its first operation to Calcutta 53 years ago. These two THAI Smile direct flights together with Ahmedabad to BKK will increase TG overall strength to India from 51 to 57 flights a week.

He further said that the benefit was always two ways, meaning THAI bringing more Thai and international tourists and business people from the popular hubs such as Bangkok and Phuket to major cities in India as well.

THAI Smile will operate flights from Delhi to Phuket on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing from Delhi at 01.55 hrs. and reaching the destination at 07.55 hrs. The return flight will take off on Mondays and Thursdays at 22.05 hrs. and land in Delhi at 00.55 hrs. Similarly, THAI Smile will operate the new Mumbai-Phuket flights every Thursday and Sunday, leaving from Mumbai at 02.20 hrs. and reaching Phuket at 08.20 hrs. On the way back, the flight will depart from Phuket

on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 22.30 hrs. and reach its destination at 01.10 hrs.

Phuket is the largest island situated in the South West coast of Thailand and is a renowned beach, top destination for lakhs of tourists. The destination has 700 hotels offering a total of 45,000 rooms.
