H.E. Mr. Chai Chidchob, President of National Assembly of Thailand and Speaker of the House of Representatives paid an official visit to India on 18-23 December 2009 by an invitation from H.E. Mrs. Meira Kumar, Speaker of Lok Sabha of India.
H.E. the President of National Assembly and his 14-member delegation visited Buddhist sacred places in Gaya and Varanasi on 18-20 December and arrived in New Delhi in the afternoon of 20 December 2009. H.E. Mr. Krit Kraichitti, Ambassador of Thailand hosted a dinner in honor of H.E. Mr. Chai Chidchob and his delegation on the same night at his residence.
In New Delhi, H.E. the President of National Assembly had an official meeting with H.E. Mrs. Meira Kumar, Speaker of Lok Sabha of India at 19.00 hrs. on 21 December 2009.
They had a constructive discussion on relations between Thailand and India as well as ways and means to further promote cooperation between Parliaments of both sides, including the establishment of Parliamentary Friendship Group of both sides. After the meeting, Speaker of Lok Sabha of India hosted a dinner in honor of H.E. Mr. Chai Chidchob and his delegation.
On 22 December 2009, H.E. Mrs. Meira Kumar, Speaker of Lok Sabha of India attended luncheon hosted in return in honor of her by H.E. Mr. Chai Chidchob at the Thai Ambassador’s residence.
Apart from official meeting, H.E. Mr. Chai Chidchob visited Parliament building of Lok Sabha, observed Rajya Sabha’s meeting as well as visited some other significant places, namely Raj Ghat, National Museum and Gandhi Smriti Museum.
