H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to India, visited Kolkata, West Bengal during 14-16 September 2017 to meet with the high level government persons and attend the inaugural session of the BIMSTEC EXPO 2017.
H.E. Ambassador along with Mr. Preecha Kaensa, Consul General in Kolkata met up with Dr. Amit Mitra, Minister-in-Charge, Finance Department and Industry, Commerce and Enterprises Department, Government of West Bengal at Office of the Minister. They discussed the way forward on promoting trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and West Bengal State.
On the second day, the Thai Ambassador participated in the inaugural session of BIMSTEC EXPO 2017 at the Lalit Great Eastern. As a speaker, H.E. Ambassador expressed his views and ideas on how to promote and enhance trade, investment and connectivity among BIMSTEC countries at the Ambassadorial session. Later, he visited Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata to inaugurate the Exposition. The three days exposition was organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in coordination with MEA to promote trade and investment between the BIMSTEC countries. The EXPO is a part of commemorative activities to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of BIMSTEC.
Ambassador also had meeting with Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Team Thailand in Kolkata.
