Thai Students at Shimla Public School welcome Embassy’s Party

On 17 September 2011, Ambassador Pisan Manawapat together with the Embassy officials paid a visit to Shimla Public School where there are altogether 51 Thai students boarders from age 9. The visit was part of the Embassy’s tour of Himachal Pradesh to meet with Thai engineers at a construction site of Koldam in Billaspur, monks and students at Chandigarh.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Pritpal Singh, School Founder, Mr. Pritinder Singh, School Director, Ms. Anu Sharma, School Principal, all staff as well as Thai and Indian students who performed Indian traditional and Thai classical dances.

The Ambassador spoke about the excellent ties between Indian and Thailand, thanked the School for the exceptionally warm welcome extended to him and his party. Having seen the performances on the stage, Ambassador Pisan took the opportunity to extend invitation to the School to send these Thai and Indian students to do 2 performances at the Thai residence on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 84th Birthday anniversary on the 5 December 2011.

Later on, the Ambassador and his colleagues especially Mr. Pitchaya Sonjai and Mr. Praphan Samphaiworakit who are responsible for education and consular affairs at the Embassy, mingled with the Thai students to find out their well-being and views about studying in India.
