During 16–17 June 2025, H.E. Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador, welcomed His Eminence Somdej Phra Theerayanamuni Phukphumphuang, Abbot of Wat Thepsirintrawat and Member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, and his delegation on the occasion of their visit to New Delhi and Gujarat, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, following his official visit to Thailand.

 

On this occasion, His Eminence had meetings with two Indian Ministers: Mr. Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, and Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Culture. Both ministers shared the view that Buddhism is a valuable cultural heritage of both countries, serving as a bridge between peoples and nurturing the spiritual well-being of humanity. They agreed that both countries should enhance cooperation in Buddhist education and exchanges. The delegation is scheduled to continue their visit to significant Buddhist sites in the state of Gujarat.
