Seminar on "Act East to Indo Pacific : Role of North-east Indian states in Connecting the Connectivities"

On 29-30 October 2022, the Ministry of External Affairs of India, in cooperation with the Asian Confluence, held a two-day Conclave on Act East to Indo Pacific : Role of North-east Indian states in “Connecting the Connectivities” in Imphal, Manipur, which was inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister Shri N Biren Singh, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State of External Affairs and Education. Participating in the Conclave were senior diplomats, policy makers, scholars and Northeastern entrepreneurs with focus on four aspects:

1) Fostering Sub-regional Cooperation in Bay of Bengal Region: An assessment and the way forward from the NER
2) Assessing Development Paradigms: Potential, challenges and the way forward for meeting the Sustainable Development Goals
3) Traditional and Non-Traditional Security: An assessment from the North East
4) Human Capital Development: Potential, Challenges and the way forward.

The Royal Thai Embassy was invited to the Conclave and Ms. Rutchanee Uerpairojkit, Minister Counsellor, has attended the inaugural session and participated in all sessions. She joined the Session on Human Capital Development as one of the speakers emphasising Thailand’s policies and efforts in enhancing cooperation in this sphere with other countries at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels. She also exchanged ideas with other speakers and audience on how and in which areas/frameworks Thailand and India could work together in advancing the agenda of human capital development in complementary to enhancing the connectivity for the sustainable development of the Northeastern Region of India.
