On 6 November 2024, H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, delivered remarks on "Opportunities and Challenges of Doing Business in India" to Thai entrepreneurs and investors attending the Bangkok Bank’s seminar. On this occasion, the Ambassador also exchanged views about doing business in India together with the Ambassador of India to Thailand, executives from the Bangkok Bank, and Indian investors whose businesses are in Thailand.
India, with its massive market size and rising purchasing power, presents an opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs. The Government of India has an investment promotion scheme in place, as well as an investment institution that foreign investors can seek information or advices. The country is also well connected with Thailand by air, sea, and land. Currently, there are direct flights linking Bangkok and Phuket to 16 Indian destinations, totalling over 300 flights per week. Also, approximately 45 Thai companies in various industry sectors have invested in India, for example, food processing, construction, autoparts and energy.
