On 25 – 27 April 2024, H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, led the Team Thailand in India delegation, including the Consul-General of Thailand, Chennai, Director of the Board of Investment (BOI), Mumbai, and officials to visit the State of Telangana. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen relations at the state level and seek avenues for trade and investment opportunities for Thailand and India. The delegation had a meeting with Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce and Information Technology Departments, State of Telangana to discuss activities under the MOU between the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana, which is the first state-level MOU between the two countries signed on 11 April 2022.

During the visit, Ambassador and the delegation also visited the manufacturing facilities and met with executives from Telangana-based pharmaceutical, medical devices and biotechnology companies, including Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Hetero Drugs, Bharat Biotech, Biological E., and Polmon Instruments, as well as the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council. The discussion aimed to explore opportunities for technical collaborations in biotechnology and vaccines between the two countries, as well as expanding investment in Thailand where incentives of BOI and the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EEC) can be offered. Furthermore, the delegation met with Cyient which specializes in engineering, aerospace and technology solutions.

State of Telangana has numerous economic potentials, one of which is a robust investment policy in the industrial sector. It is home to many well-known Indian pharmaceutical companies as well as world-class IT and digital businesses.
