Field trip to Thailand for the winners of Namaste Thailand Quiz 2024

On 15-18 August 2024, the Winners of Namaste Thailand Quiz 2024 and #MeraThailand Creative writing campaign went on a field trip to Thailand. The trip, sponsored by the Royal Thai Embassy and Tourism Authority of Thailand, was rewarded to them as a well-deserved recognition of their efforts on the demonstration of their extensive knowledge about Thailand’s culture, history and traditions. This trip also served as a good opportunity for the students to gain memorable experience about Thailand.

The delegation received a briefing by a representative from the South Asian Division, the Department of South Asian, Middle East, and African Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on the bilateral relations between Thailand and India, especially on people-to-people connectivity. The students also got an opportunity to visit several places in Bangkok and Chonburi to learn more about Thailand in various dimensions and sectors; for example (1) Museum Siam: to learn about Thainess, perspective and development of Thainess through interesting multimedia exhibition (2) Grand Palace, Temple of Emerald Buddha, and Wat Pho (3) Nang Loeng Market: historical neighborhood and the 120-year-old first land market in Thailand, to learn about community traditions and Thai culture. The students also attended a small workshop of traditional Thai dance called Lakhon Chatri (4) Sea Turtle Conservation Centre, Royal Thai Navy, established in 1992 as an initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and (5) Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre: to learn about creative industry and art scene of Thailand.
