On 3 December 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi hosted a reception on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, Thailand’s National Day, and Father’s Day, at the Embassy compound. The event was honoured by the presence of Shri Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles of India, who attended as the Chief Guest. More than 500 guests joined the event, including members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the public and private sectors, academics, media, civil society organisations in India, as well as Thai nationals residing in New Delhi and nearby areas.

On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand, delivered remarks underscoring the benevolence of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and his lifelong contributions to Thailand’s development through the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy—
an approach that continues to guide the country in its pursuit of sustainable development. The Ambassador invited attendees to watch a video highlighting the royal duties of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, and subsequently led a moment of silence in her remembrance. She also recalled His Majesty’s profound love for Her Majesty, expressed in his affectionate words, “She is my smile.”

The Ambassador further highlighted the positive developments in Thailand–India relations this year, particularly the official visit to Thailand by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, during which bilateral relations were elevated to a Strategic Partnership, as well as the visit to India by Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow.

Shri Pabitra Margherita also delivered remarks expressing condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. He emphasised Thailand’s significance under India’s Act East Policy, describing Thailand as a friendly neighbour with a shared maritime boundary, and praised the increasingly close and expanding cooperation between Thailand and India.
