Thai Delegation Visits NER in 2025 to Strengthen Ties Between Thailand and the Northeast Region of India

From 13 to 18 July 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, led by Mr. Kiran Moongtin, Minister attached to the Ministry, organized a visit to Assam by a Thai delegation comprising representatives from public and private sectors in the fields of tourism, culture, and development.

The delegation included representatives from the Thai Hotels Association, the Federation of Thai Spa and Wellness Associations, the Thai Travel Agents Association, Dusit Thani College, Panyapiwat Institute of Management, the Creative Economy Agency, and Silpakorn University.

Throughout the visit, the Thai delegation was warmly welcomed by Indian counterparts. Both sides recognized the vast potential of the region and expressed mutual interest in fostering cooperation for shared benefit. Areas of collaboration include expanding tourism routes, enhancing tourism management capacity, building networks among private stakeholders, promoting traditional crafts, supporting design and product development, and deepening cultural exchanges across communities.

The delegation also had the opportunity to engage with various Tai ethnic communities, particularly the Tai Phake, who share a cherished Pi-Nong (“sibling”) bond with the Thai people—an enduring relationship that Thailand remains committed to preserving.
