On 2nd August 2023 H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, presided over the first Thailand Education Fair 2023 organised by Thai Trade Center, New Delhi together with Association of Private Higher Education Institutions of Thailand (APHEIT) and Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
On her opening remarks, Ambassador mentioned the strong ties of Thai - Indo relations that have expanded and developed from the cultural connection to other aspects, especially trade and investment. On education, Thailand wishes to see more Indian students looking to the East side and considering Thailand as their education destination where various curricula have been offered to Thai and international students, from hospitality management, social sciences, medical services to aviation, to name just a few. Ambassador also emphasized that with the economic growth of India, the country needs a more diversified, qualified and skilled workforce to serve the vibrant economy. Overseas education can be a suitable alternative and Thailand education is the answer for accessible, achievable and affordable for Indian young explorers.
After the opening ceremony, Ambassador Pattarat witnessed the signing of MOU for Academic Cooperation between Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary of the AIU and Dr. Somsak Rungruang, President of APHEIT.
There were 10 private universities from Thailand joining this event, which are Bangkok University, Dhurakij Pundit University, Dusit Thani College, Kasem Bundit University, North-Chiang Mai University, Rajapruk University, Siam University, Southeast Bangkok University, Sripatum University, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
