On 16-18 October 2023, Ambassador Pattarat Hongtong, along with ASEAN Head of Missions in New Delhi, paid an official visit to Mumbai, the State of Maharashtra. The activity was organized under the ASEAN New Delhi Committee (ANDC) under the Chairmanship of Brunei High Commission. Consul Generals of ASEAN Member Countries in Mumbai also joined the programme, including Consul General Donnawit Poolsawat.

The programme included (1) Courtesy calls on 1) Shri Ramesh Bais, the hon’ble Governor and 2) Shri Eknath Shinde, the hon’ble Chief Ministers, (2) Interactive discussion with private sectors hosted by Shri Uday Samant, the Minister of Industries (3) Briefing by Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The delegation learnt of the economic potential and policies of the State of Maharashtra and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation between ASEAN and ASEAN Member States and the State, in order to promote stronger ASEAN-India ties.

During the visit, Ambassador Pattarat also attended the Global Maritime India Summit 2023 to be a speaker in a roundtable discussion on ‘Regional Maritime Connectivity: BIMSTEC’ and met with executives of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, the leading Indian company in this field.
