On 11 March 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), New Delhi, joined hands in organizing the Media Briefing on “Welcome Back to Thailand with Amazing New Chapters”. The event’s objective was to provide comprehensive information for the Indian press about the re-opening of Thailand for tourists from India, especially in the context of the Air Travel Bubble between the two countries and India’s recent announcement on the resumption of international commercial flights from 27 March onwards.

Ambassador of Thailand to India, in her opening remarks, shared an overview of Thailand’s policy to reopen for tourism and the importance of tourism in fostering Thailand-India relations. Also present at the briefing were the Deputy Governor for Asia and South Pacific of the TAT, and representatives from Thai Airways International, Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), Thai Hotel Association (THA), and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). The event was followed by a reception under the theme “Thai Street Food” to showcase the vibrant and flavourful Thai cuisines.

The event marked the beginning of the celebration of 75th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-India diplomatic relations this year through the promotion of tourism, which will be a strong foundation for the closer people-to-people bond and even closer ties between the two countries.
