The Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi, organised the 5th Namaste Thailand Festival 2024 EP.1 at the Royal Thai Embassy during 24–25 February 2024. It aims to showcase Thailand to Indians and foreigners residing in India through Thailand’s various elements of Thainess such as food, culture, tourism and products. The festival was inaugurated by H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, along with Team Thailand, diplomatic communities, Friends of Thailand, Thai and Indian private sectors.

 

In 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy plans to organise three events of the Thai festival. The episode 1 of the Namaste Thailand Festival 2024 showcased the excellence and potentials of Thailand in 4 areas of activities: (1) Ten stalls from Thai entrepreneurs selling various kinds of products from Thailand such as accessories, jewellery, kitchenware, ceramics, processed food and fruits. (2) Thirteen renowned restaurants in Delhi and nearby areas were present to serve famous and authentic Thai cuisine. (3) Various cultural stage performances including cooking demonstrations by the Ambassador and a Thai chef from a well-known hotel in New Delhi on the famous Som Tum (Thai papaya salad) and Kaeng Kiew Wan (Green curry with chicken), and Pad Thai, which are well known and adored by Indians and Foreigners, Thai traditional dance performance, Namaste Thailand Flash Quizzes by the Embassy to challenge audiences’ knowledge about Thailand. (4) Concert by SUN DER Band from Kalasin province in the Northeast of Thailand to showcase Thai traditional and classical music which was the highlight of the festival as their uniqueness and musical talents created a fun and upbeat atmosphere that entertained the crowd until the end of the program, making the evening memorable for everyone. Furthermore, the Embassy, along with Team Thailand in India, also arranged the workshops on fruit carving, spider silk, and herbal inhaler for interested visitors.

 

During the two-day festival, the event was attended by over 3,000 visitors. Apart from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy also received kind support from various companies who were part of the success in presenting Thailand in all potential areas to the Indian public, i.e. SCG International India, Global Power Synergy Company, Fortune Parts Industry, Thai Airways International, SpiceJet, and Aditya Birla Group, as well as Thai restuarants in Delhi-NCR.
