The Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi, organised the 6th Namaste Thailand Festival 2025 EP.2 “Happy Songkran Edition” at the Royal Thai Embassy on 29 March 2025. The festival was inaugurated by H.E Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphan, Ambassador-designate of India to Thailand. The main theme of the festival is to showcase the upcoming celebration of Songkran in Thailand which was inscribed on the list of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024. The festival also serves as a good opportunity to promote various elements of Thailand such as food, culture, and tourism to Indians and foreigners residing in India.
The Royal Thai Embassy organizes a mini-celebration of Songkran in Thailand for participants to experience the rich cultures and tradition of Songkran in Thailand. A range of fun activities to celebrate the special occasion were featured such as bathing Buddha statues and elder adults, building sand pagoda, traditional Thai dance and games, mulberry umbrella and fan painting workshop, water splashing, Art Talk on Thai-tone colours by Ajarn Pairoj Pittayamatee from Silpakorn University, Thai massage, Thai food from 9-10 well-known vendors in New Delhi and nearby areas, and Thai creative products by young designers from Bangkok.
During the festival, there were over 1,310 visitors attended. Apart from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy also received support from various companies who were part of the success to present “Songkran in Thailand” to the Indian public, i.e. SCG International India, Global Power Synergy Company, Thai Airways International, and Thai Air Asia. The festival is open for everyone to join in the celebrations to help safeguard and promote Thailand's rich cultural traditions. It would also strengthen the positive image of Thailand and stimulate economic growth in Thailand
