On 25 June 2025, Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand, held a meeting with Mr. Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland, at the Ambassador's Residence. On this occasion, both sides discussed ways to enhance relations between Thailand and the State of Nagaland. Thailand emphasized that Northeast India is a strategically significant region for Thailand, where Thailand and Nagaland can explore cooperation in various areas, including economy and investment, education, arts and culture, tourism, as well as vocational training.

 

It is worth noting that Nagaland shares ethnic and cultural similarities with Thailand and has a positive perception of the country. Thailand also remains a popular travel destination for the people of Nagaland.
