Warm greetings from Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, the Ambassador of Thailand to India

A warm greeting to my fellow Thais and dear friends of Thailand residing in India. It is a profound honour for me to have received the gracious Royal Command from His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua to assume the role of Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of India.

After serving as the Thai Ambassador to Finland for 3 years and 7 months, I arrived in New Delhi on 2 March 2025 with great enthusiasm for this new chapter. India is a nation of immense global significance, playing a pivotal role in shaping the world in politics, economics, society, and culture. It is a privilege to serve as Thailand’s representative in such a dynamic and influential country.

Thailand and India share a deep-rooted and enduring friendship, strengthen over centuries through history, culture and shared values. Our partnership extends across bilateral and multilateral platforms, particularly through the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), where both nations collaborate closely. In this regard, Thailand is honoured to host the 6th BIMSTEC Summit on 4 April 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand where Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed his participation. The Summit will further energize regional cooperation, fostering a stronger and more dynamic partnership.

The Government of India’s vision s of self-reliance - Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan - aligns closely with the Sufficiency Economy philosophy introduced by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great more than 30 years ago. Both concepts emphasize the importance of a resilient domestic economy as a foundation for global competitiveness, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, digital transformation and human capital development. With such shared aspirations, I am confident that Thailand and India can collaborate even more closely to achieve sustainable development, driving regional prosperity.

Beyond economic ties, the heart of our relationship lies in people-to-people connections. I am committed to further strengthening our bonds through cultural exchange, education, religion, and tourism, fostering deeper understanding and friendship. The warmth and generosity shared between Thais and Indians form the foundation of our growing ties.

I, therefore, look forward to working closely with all sectors in both Thailand and India - especially the Thai community in India, the Indian community in Thailand, and our cherished friends in both nations, to cultivate mutual understanding, respect, and a shared appreciation of our deep-rooted ties. Lastly, may the power of the Triple Gem and all that is sacred bless you with happiness, prosperity and good health. Together, let us work toward creating remarkable milestones in Thailand-India relations.
